Material, Stock and Shipping Specifications

INSERT SPECIFICATIONS

Paper inserts must be square or rectangular in shape, with no protrusion. Size must not exceed 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", and cannot be smaller that 2-5/8" x 5-3/4".

Maximum weight per insert is .1 ounce. Minimum paperweight is 45# (coated paper).

All coding information must be clearly visible on the EXTERNAL panels of all inserts. Interior codes are not acceptable. Each separately coded group must be packaged separately, and clearly marked on the outside of all cartons.

"Accordion-type" folds are not acceptable. Material must be tightly folded; inserts having more than four thicknesses must have the prior approval in writing from Larry Tucker, Inc. End folds must have similar approval, all before shipment to us.

Any die cuts, patches, etc. must be clean-edged and lie flat, in order to avoid catching on one another. These must also be approved in writing from Larry Tucker, Inc. before printing.

Perforations are discouraged and must withstand production requirements. Inserts folded on a perforation are not machinable.

CARTON SIZES AND SPEC'S:

All inserts must be packed into cartons with minimum test strength of 200#. No packed carton shall exceed a maximum weight of 50 pounds. All cartons must be solidly packed to prevent shifting, curling, or collating of the individual sheets. Maximum carton size is 16" x 16" x 24".

Cartons containing gummed inserts are to be sealed with moisture resistant tape. Any envelopes should be packed on edge in the cartons (as opposed to flat) to avoid excess compression on the gummed flaps.

All materials which have two or more folds, uneven folds, uneven layers, uneven thickness, or which are "bangtail" envelopes must be packed in eggcrate cartons with corrugated dividers. Inserts must be stacked on the short edge.

If cartons contain multiple layers of material, each layer should be separated by a corrugated sheet. Single-thickness or one-fold inserts should be packed flat - not on edge) see paragraph 3).

All material should be faced in the same direction. If turns are required to compensate for uneven thickness, each turn should measure 4" to 6"; there should not be more than one turn per bundle. Care should be exercised in the packing of material which is not of uniform thickness, to avoid warping, curling, or interlocking.

Bulk-loaded pallets or skids will not be accepted.

All material must be received in carton, mounted on pallets or skids. Maximum size of loaded pallets is not to exceed 42" wide x 48" long x 60" high. Maximum weight of a loaded pallet is 1500 pounds.

Each pallet or skid must contain only one code - unless all such codes are to be mixed at random throughout the mailing.

Pallets or skids must be secured by shrink wrapping, wood tops, or corrugated skid sleeves. Two metal, plastic, or fiber bands should be securely attached in each direction.

Pallets or skids must be packed as a solid blocks (no gaps). The outer edge of the cartons must align, and must not overlap the outer edge of the pallet.

Pallets or skids must be loaded onto trailers for rear unloading.

NOTE: String tying or rubber-banding of materials is FORBIDDEN - use paper handling when necessary. Envelopes or "bangtails" should not be banded at all.

INSURANCE DISCLAIMER:

We do not provide insurance on customers' materials while stored or processed. However, adequate protection against vandalism, theft, fire, and the natural elements is provided. If you would like your materials to be covered by your insurance carrier, we will be more than happy to provide them with information about the precautionary/security measures in force, or allow for their inspection of our premises and precautionary measures.

QUALITY CONTROL:

Every effort is made to minimize material spoilage. However, a nominal amount of material will be consumed in the machine set-up and processing of any job. The amount of such spoilage will vary with the total quantity of the job; the number of operations involved; the number of machines on which the job is being processed; the type of component; etc.

Under typical conditions, provision should be made for a spoilage allowance of approximately 2% - depending upon job volume.

Poorly manufactured or packaged components can result in equipment slow-down, additional handling and possible delays in scheduling. In such cases, we reserve the right to decline processing of the job and/or, if the additional production time is available, to charge for extra costs which are incurred.

WAREHOUSE STORAGE OF CUSTOMER MATERIAL:

Due to the large amount of space required to warehouse materials, we have set up these guidelines for material storage:

We will provide storage space for up to 30 days in advance of scheduled production start-up.

When the mailing is completed, we will provide you with an inventory of remaining materials.

We will allow 30 days following this report for disposition instructions from you.

After this 30-day period, storage charges will be incurred at the rate of $1 per day per skid.
